    \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tBasic woodcutting course \r\n\r\nSessions 1-2 \r\n\r\nIntroduction \u2013 the history of woodcutting in Europe and Japan, introduction to woodcutting tools and the various types of wood. First woodcutting exercise (cutting out text or ornaments). \r\n\r\nSession 3-4 \r\n\r\nHistorical survey of classical and contemporary woodcuts. Exercise: process of creating a sketch. \r\n\r\nSessions 5-6 \r\n\r\nHistorical survey, 18th and 19th centuries in Europe and Japan and printing methods. Printing still life. \r\n\r\nSessions 7-8 \r\n\r\nHistorical survey, 19th and 20th centuries. Exercise: landscape. Sketch, composition, working with wood. \r\n\r\nSessions 9-10 \r\n\r\nHistorical survey, 20th century, woodcutting in Israel. Printing landscape, exercise: portrait or figure. \r\n\r\nSessions 11-12 \r\n\r\nWork on free composition, printing works, creating a portfolio. Each student is required to bring: pencils, nib and ink, brushes, cutting knife and sketching book.     Each course (screenprinting, etching, woodcutting or bookbinding) includes:
    \n12 3-hour weekly sessions (total of 36 hours) in the course of 3 months. Sessions take place at the JPW on a regular day, once a week.
    \nWeekdays: 4 pm \u2013 7 pm; on Fridays: 8:30 am \u2013 11:30 pm. <\/p>\n
