Moshe Gershuni (1936-2017)

Moshe Gershuni was born in 1936 in Tel Aviv. Until the late 1970s he worked as a post-conceptual artist. In the 1980s, his style changed and he focused mostly on painting. His works are a combination of texts from Jewish sources, remembrance of the Holocaust, and Zionist associations, alongside homo-erotic and personal aspects. In 1984 Gershuni was the first artist invited to the Jerusalem Print Workshop to create a group of prints. Lived and worked in Tel Aviv. His works can be found in many collections, among them those of the Israel Museum, Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Tate Modern (London), Jewish Museum (New York), British Museum (London), MOMA (New York), and others.
