Osias Hofstatter (1905-1994)

Osias Hofstatter was born in 1905 in Bochnia, Galitzia. He lived in Vienna during 1920-1938, where he worked as an accountant and a merchant. After Austria was annexed into Germany, he fled to Belgium. During World War II he was captivated in the San Siberian concentration camp. In 1942 he fled to Switzerland, and in 1948 moved to Warsaw, where he taught Jewish orphans and worked as an illustrator and graphic designer for a youth magazine. In 1957 he immigrated to Israel and worked as a night guard. From 1970 onward he dedicated his time to art.
