Liliane Klapisch (b. 1933)
Liliane Klapisch was born in 1933 in Cachan, Paris. In World War II, she hid with her family in various places. During 1958-1959 she lived in Morocco, and in 1969 she immigrated to Israel and settled in Jerusalem. Her early works are distinguished by intense abstraction. In the 1970s she began creating figurative paintings, influenced by classical and modern European art. Throughout her entire artistic career she has worked in print – lithography, etching and screenprint. Her prints are distinguished by expressiveness of drawing. Klapisch’s works can be found among the collections of the Israel Museum, Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Haifa Museum of Art, and others.
