Igael Tumarkin (b. 1933)
Igael Tumarkin was born in 1933 in Germany. In the late 1950s he began working in lithography and offset. In the 1970s he developed a combination of photo-etching, etched drawings and dry-point on cut plates. Meanwhile, he created many series in screenprint, which had a collage-like feature. In his works, Tumarkin expressed and reflected Israeli reality, which fluctuates between Western culture and the memory of the Holocaust. His works can be found among the all the Israeli museum collections and those of numerous museums worldwide, such as the MOMA (New York), Jewish Museum (New York), Hakone Open-Air Museum (Japan), and others.
