Both exhibitions presented here contemplate the political climate—past and present—often serving as a voice of protest and a plea for peace. Frustration with the government and the longing for justice and freedom resonate throughout the works on display. These exhibitions do not shy away from difficult topics such as war, judicial reforms, and the struggle for equality. Rather, they amplify these issues, giving form to the emotions and demands of the people through visual means.
Together, these two exhibitions form a dialogue between past and present, between different geographies and histories. They remind us that art has long been a vessel for resistance, a record of shared struggles, and a powerful testament to the enduring human desire for change.
In 2012, the exhibition “Boiling Blood” curated by Irena Gordon, brought together works that responded to the impact of war, exploring its devastation and the psychological toll it exacts on individuals and societies. Today, as Israel experiences war once again, this exhibition takes on new urgency, revisited and expanded with additional works and layers of discussion.
The updated presentation acknowledges the painful repetition of history, underscoring how artists continue to grapple with the realities of conflict. The works included reflect personal and collective responses to war—expressing grief, resilience, defiance, and a deep longing for peace. This exhibition invites viewers to consider how the artistic response to war has evolved and what remains unchanged in the way we process and depict the consequences of violence.
