In the liminal space between waking and sleeping, fantasy and reality, “Waking Dream” beckons us to explore the depths of our consciousness and embrace the complexities of the human experience. Throughout history, art has served as a conduit for both creators and observers to delve into the recesses of their subconscious. Art does not demand rhyme or reason, allowing a safe space for experimentation with color, shape, and dimensions. While it may seem like an avenue to escape reality, the realm of art often serves as a mirror, reflecting the anxieties and apprehensions that shadow our existence. Within artistic expression, personal interpretation offers a glimpse of the truths we attempt to evade.

The artwork presented in the exhibition “Waking Dream” invites us to delve into the dream-like colorful worlds imagined by artists. Initially appearing fantastical or amusing, the prints, paintings, sculptures, and videos in our exhibition reveal deeper layers upon closer examination, portraying hidden figures, unsettling actions, and existential anxieties. In the hope that through art, we find a space where we confront and possibly reconcile with our fears.
